President Rodrigo Duterte did not confirm or deny on Sunday that he went to the hospital amid rumors circulating that he was hospitalized at Cardinal Santos Medical Center in San Juan.
“There is no truth to the rumor circulating that President Rodrigo Roa Duterte is confined in Cardinal Santos Medical Center in San Juan,” presidential spokesperson Salvador Panelo said.
“The President is in his residence at the Palace signing papers. I just talked to him, he is neither confirming nor denying that he went to the hospital,” he added.
Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea also denied on Sunday that the President is in the hospital.
“Not true. He should probably be in his quarters and resting like what I will do in a few minutes. Thanks for understanding,” Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea said in a text message sent to reporters.
The Presidential Security Group on Sunday also said there is no truth to such rumors.
“For info, as of last night and today no such incident involving the President took place,” PSG spokesperson Captain Zeerah Blanche Lucrecia said in a text message sent to media.
Lucrecia however said she could not disclose Duterte’s location.
“My apologies. I hope you understand that due to security protocols, we cannot divulge the President’s location,” she wrote.
“However we can assure you that the President is well and good,” Lucrecia said.
The rumors said Duterte was confined at the said hospital and suffered a cardiac arrest.
In March, Duterte’s daughter, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, said all is well with her father’s health.
Presidential spokesperson Salvador Panelo also said that time that Duterte is not suffering from a serious medical condition, but just has the usual migraine “every now and then.”
According to a survey conducted by the Social Weather Stations on December 16-19, 2018, 66% of Filipino adults said they are worried about Duterte’s health.
