DFA confirms Filipino victims in Singapore car accident

December 29, 2019

The Department of Foreign Affairs on Sunday confirmed that there were Filipino victims in the car accident at a shopping mall in Singapore that killed at least two and injured four others.

“Specific details are being validated but yes, it appears that Filipino victims are involved,” said Foreign Affairs Assistant Secretary Ed Meñez.

Reports said two female pedestrians were killed and four others were hurt after a car crashed onto a side road Sunday afternoon at Lucky Plaza, a popular hub for Filipino domestic workers during their rest day.

The Straits Times said the car rammed into a metal railing and landed on the side road next to the mall, hitting several people in the process.

Meñez said the Home Office in Manila is checking the latest information on the accident with the Philippine embassy, adding that all assistance will be provided to the victims. — BM, GMA News
